Stars of contact centre industry to be recognised for pulling industry through the recession

Welsh Contact Centre AwardsWales’ best in the contact centre industry are to have their hard work and dedication recognised in February with the 12th annual Welsh Contact Centre Awards.

The awards, in association with International Business Wales (IBW) / Welsh Assembly Government and www.CardiffJobs.co.uk will see workers from companies including Conduit, ING Direct and Admiral vying to win one of 13 awards. They celebrate the excellence of individuals, teams and companies working within the Welsh contact centre industry.

Despite the recession, the industry still employs 30,000 people and pumps £400m a year into the Welsh economy.  The sector continues to thrive and is one of the success stories of an evolving modern day Wales.

Sandra Busby, managing director of the Welsh Contact Centre Forum, said: “Competition for these awards has been fierce this year with companies and individuals striving for higher standards during these tough economic times. Therefore to gain a place in the finals is highly prestigious and people should feel very proud of themselves.”

Sharon Linnard, the Welsh Assembly Government’s director of Economic Development, said that the awards help consolidate the contact centre industry in Wales. She said: “Recognition of the high calibre of staff in Welsh operations is a great way of encouraging new investment into Wales.”

Jemin Popat, Managing Director of CardiffJobs.co.uk said:  “It is an honour to support these awards which recognise some of the most dedicated and inspirational people in the contact centre industry”.

The finalists will discover if they have won at an awards ceremony at the Welsh Contact Centre:  Awards Celebrating Excellence Star Gala Dinner and Ball at Cardiff’s City Hall on Thursday, February 11, 2010.
