Why Dubai/UAE?
The UAE is by far the UK’s largest food and drink export market in the Middle East and North Africa with sales of over £89 million in 2009, an increase of over 18.3% on the previous year. The increase in UK exports can be attributed to a number of factors including the country’s growing population, thriving economy and its profile as one of the regions most popular tourist destination.
Additional food and drink exports can also be attributed to the estimated 120,000 British nationals now resident in the UAE.
What Welsh Products?
Research shows that there are opportunities in the UAE for Welsh food and drink companies in most product sectors (with the exception of non-halal meat and alcohol products). In particular there is an increasing demand for confectionery products, soft drinks including bottled water, chilled/dairy products and grocery products.
