Additionally, the Swansea Bay City Deal and the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal have both channelled significant public investment into digital infrastructure, skills development, and innovation facilities. The £1.3 billion Cardiff Capital Region deal, in particular, has funded initiatives directly relevant to the AI and data science sector, including the creation of collaborative research facilities designed to bridge the gap between academic discovery and commercial application.
